Aston Villa announced the signing of former Arsenal full-back, Noelle Maritz, this morning. Maritz is set to depart North London to join Carla Ward’s side on a permanent transfer clause, in what is a strengthening signing for the Villans.

Maritz signed with Arsenal from VFL Wolfsburg in 2020, and has since proved herself as a clinical defender during her time in N5.

After concluding their 2022/23 season in impressive fashion, Aston Villa have proved disappointing in their league campaign thus far. As oppositions have been quickly discovering the potential weaknesses in Ward’s last line, Maritz will prove to be an excellent signing for the Birmingham side.

Maritz’s arrival in Birmingham from North London marks the third in just twelve months, Jordan Nobbs and Anna Patten having also recently departed Arsenal on permanent clauses.
