Leigh Sports Village geared up to host a curtain raiser between Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the penultimate meeting between the two sides before they arrive at Wembley Stadium.

Grace Clinton finds herself unavailable for the clash due to the terms of her loan contract, as Matilda Vinberg makes her way into Robert Vilahamn’s starting eleven.

As for Marc Skinner, the Red Devils manager opted for two changes to his starting eleven- as Lucia Garcia and Rachel Williams make way for Nikita Parris and Melvine Malard

Manchester United started spritely on home turf, as a brilliant free-kick from Lisa Naalsund saw her cross float well to meet Melvine Malard at the back post. Making no mistake did the French striker, as she headed home the first of the afternoon.

A short corner combination from Eveliina Summanen and Matilda Vinberg saw the latter float the ball into the area, as a struggling United last line failed to clear the ball any further than Drew Spence. Spence liked her chances on a first time hit, as Mary Earps failed to make real connection with the strike as Tottenham found their equaliser.

Spurs would hit-home in quick succession, as Vinberg once again caused horrors for the Red Devils last line. Finding Jessica Naz with her entry cleanly, before the English forward worked her way around her markers before hitting home the advantage at Leigh Sports Village.

Martha Thomas came out poorly, as a prolonged spell with the medical team saw the former Manchester United striker replaced with Kit Graham in the game’s early stages.

Spurs would retain their advantage heading into the half time interval, as Robert Vilahamn’s side continued to look full of energy as the clock ran into the break.

The Red Devils searched desperately for the equaliser in Manchester, as Katie Zelem sent a searching cross inside of the area off the back of a corner-kick. Rachel Williams met the ball with a well-timed leap, though her header flew wide of the intended target.

Leah Galton looked to be in a promising position inside of the area, before cutting on to her right foot to evade Luana Bühler inside of the area. An even challenge saw both Galton and Ash Neville pull up worse for wear, as both players were down and receiving treatment. Galton made way as a result, as Geyse occupied her spot on the grass.

An even contest ensued at Leigh Sports Village, as both sides fought with hunger to scrape the three points on the occassion.

Zelem liked her chances from distance, as the Manchester United captain struck from outside of the box, only to be denied by a brave headed clearance from Kit Graham.

Lucia Garcia looked threatening inside of the area, though her footwork was no match for a jockeying Neville, who saw the ball out and behind for a corner. A dangerous delivery from Zelem was then punched away by the finest of margins by a tracking Becky Spencer.

Another deadly corner entry proved too strong for the Spurs last line, as a goal line scuffle saw Maya Le Tissier head home the equaliser in the final moments of the clash. A nice way to celebrate a four year contract celebration, as the English defender’s header saw the points shared at Leigh Sports Village.
