Chelsea Football Club have announced the official departure of defender Maren Mjelde upon the expiration of her contract this summer.

Mjelde departs the club after a well decorated 7 and a half year stint with the Blues, having won 13 bouts of silverware during her time at the London club.

Making 140 appearances for the Blues since her arrival at the club in 2017, Chelsea fans are rightfully devastated at the news of her departure.

“It’s been seven great years. I came to the club in 2017, it was a new journey for me- coming to England, to London, playing for such a big club as Chelsea.

I think when I look back at all my years, it’s been ups and it’s been downs- but it’s been more ups than it has been downs. So it’s been a hell of a ride.”

The Blues will face Bristol City this Sunday at Kingsmeadow, in what will be Mjelde’s final home game in South West London.
