West Ham United have announced the signing of German U19 international,  Shekiera Martinez. The 22 year-old has signed with the East London club over from Frauen-Bundesliga side, Eintracht Frankfurt.

Via an official club press release, West Ham announce that “Martinez will immediately head back to her homeland to join SC Freiburg on loan for the 2024/25 campaign, where she will accumulate the necessary points to meet the Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) criteria for international player visas.”

Speaking to whufc.com, Martinez expressed her excitement in signing for the Irons: “I’m really happy to be joining West Ham United. The Women’s Super League is an incredible league and I want to challenge myself in England against the best teams.

“I’m a fast player and love to score goals. I hope I can help the team with my experience from playing in Germany and in the Champions League.

“I hope to gain some invaluable experience on loan at SC Freiburg and return to east London ready to hit the ground running.”
