The USA had already booked their spot in the quarter final stages before the kick off in Marseille, though the side didn’t lack complacency as they found a 2-1 victory over Australia.

Despite what became a heavily-rotated side in the latter stages of the game, here is how we individually rated the USA players on the occasion.

Alyssa Naeher 6/10

A quiet evening for the USA goalkeeper other than the late score conceded.

Emily Fox 8/10

An absolute engine down the wing. Ran the lines and combined well with Rodman to expose the Australian left side. Subbed off in the 64th.

Naomi Girma 7/10

Not much to do for Girma, but when called upon she was solid as always.

Crystal Dunn 7.5/10

Shut down the Australian attack well when necessary. Not given much strife but alert when pressed at all. Subbed off – assumed resting rotation- at half time.

Emily Sonnett 7/10

Same as Girma, not much to do but rock-solid when needed. Proved a strong outlet out of defence.

Lindsey Horan 6/10

One of the more quiet nights for Lindsey Horan, especially when played up against Katrina Gorry.

Rose Lavelle 7/10

A quiet night, but not in a bad way. Did well to connect the defence and the attack in the moments where the USA opted to play centrally.

Sam Coffey 7.5/10

Struggled to find breathing room amidst the action after an interesting decision to award her an early yellow card. However, as the game went on she was able to find her space to operate with expertise.

Trinity Rodman 9/10

Exciting as always, posed a real threat and combined well with Emily Fox down the right side. Worked brilliantly to come back and defend when needed, and managed to find herself on the scoresheet once again. Subbed off at the 64th.

Sophia Smith 8/10

Got into more of a rhythm as the game ticked on. Caused real troubles for the Australian defence and worked with discipline across the length of the game. Often inverted centrally to help catalyse an attacking motion, and did so brilliantly.

Mallory Swanson 6/10

Less of a presence than she was in previous games, though extremely difficult to play against a tight back three of centre backs.

Korbin Albert 7/10

A wonder strike to double the USA’s advantage after being brought on for Rose Lavelle in the 65th minute.

Casey Kreuger 7/10

A brilliant display of desperate defending to keep the Australians out in the final fifteen minutes after being subbed on for Emily Fox.

Jenna Nighswonger 6/10

A few nervous moments as the clock ran down, but a solid inclusion.

Lynn Williams 6/10

Looked exciting in some moments, however the game was far too open in the latter stages for the USA to properly utilise her.

Croix Bethune N/A

Subbed on too late to make a fair assessment.
