It all ended in heartbreak for Colombia as Spain found a way from 2-0 down to comeback and find late victory in a match decided by penalties.

Despite the heartbreak, the Colombian side have much to be proud of after making history at the 2024 Paris Olympics for the nation.

Katherine Tapia 6/10

A strong display in the opening stages before the Spanish attack came out stronger.

Carolina Arias 8/10

Strong down the width to isolate the Spanish attack out of the area. Mature performance against a touch opponent.

Daniela Arias 6/10

A solid first half from Arias, but struggled to keep up when Spain put their foot on the gas in the latter stages of the fixture.

Jorelyn Carabali 8/10

Held her own when Spain looked to be making any form of attacking motion. Really impressive use of possession. Slotted home a her penalty deservedly after a great performance.

Manuela Vanegas 7/10

Spain seemed to smell blood in the water down the right side, and opted to instigate a lot of their successful attacking motions down the wing of Vanegas. Made no real mistakes and held well, but looked shaky in a few moments.

Marcela Restrepo 6/10

Played a strong defensive role against an unforgiving Spanish midfield, but let her standards drop as the clock ticked on.

Catalina Usme 6/10

Similar to Restrepo, Usme played a vital defensive role. Did well up until the 80th minute, when she left Hermoso under no pressure to slot home Spain’s first. Missed her penalty in disappointing fashion.

Manuela Pavi 7/10

A devastating end to the fixture for Pavi, as she was subbed off in the 45th minute after an uncomfortable looking injury. Looked dynamic during her time on, faced a narrow near-miss in what would have been a brilliant strike.

Leicy Santos 8/10

A clever assist for Mayra Ramírez to set up the opener, Santos impressed against the high-calibre opposition in the midfield. Put the game to bed in the 53rd minute as her strike saw the net ripple to secure her side the victory in Marseille. Dynamic and impressive display.

Linda Caicedo 6/10

A quiet display from the young star in the first half. Shut down well by the Spanish defence, in particular, Ona Batlle. Was subbed off in the 67th after being stretchered off with an injury.

Mayra Ramírez 8/10

An easy finish to open up the scoring for the Colombians after a very strong display from the Chelsea striker. Played through four Spanish defenders to nearly find Colombia’s third of the evening, but Coll saved it at the death.

Illana Izquierdo 6/10

Brought on to replace Pavi just before the break. Struggled to have a real say in the flow of the game, but put in the defensive work.

Daniela Montoya 5/10

Subbed on in replacement of Linda Caicedo in the 67th minute to add a deeper defensive layer for Colombia. Didn’t work too well to nullify the comeback of the Spanish, but did pay useful attention to Aitana Bonmatí.
