It was nothing short of pure elation for the USA at Parc de Princes, as a clinical finish from Mallory Swanson was enough to storm home her side to victory at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.
Here is how we rated each gold medalist who stepped foot on the grass in the 1-0 victory in Paris.

Pulled off a vital save in the closing stages of the first half to deny Brazil of the opener. That save ended up being a match winner as the USA were able to shut out any hopes of a Brazilian equaliser.
Another clinical display of goalkeeping saved the USA at the death, as Adriana flicked on a clever header in attempt to bring scores level in Paris. Naeher would prove clutch once again as she palmed the strike away from danger.
Emily Fox 8/10
A strong start from Fox down the width. Got on the end of a threatening cross from Portilho to deny Ludmila of the breakthrough at the back post. Read the play well from the right back position as she was nearly always first to the ball when Brazil tried to move the play forward. Several clearances in the later stages of the game saw her clear the play away fron danger.
Naomi Girma 8/10
Probably the first time we have seen Girma stutter this tournament. Ludmila caused some issues for the USA centre-back pairing in the early stages, but in true Naomi Girma fashion, she bounced back and put on another solid display.
Tierna Davidson 7/10
Did well to nullify the threat of Brazil’s attack as they targeted their flow down the right side. Was able to deal with the long balls well as Brazil tried to commit with pace going forward. Had some shaky moments but made no real mistakes. Subbed off in the 74th minute.
Crystal Dunn 6/10
Brazil seemed to target her flank, and it often payed off. Dunn was outplayed in the first half, but adapted to the play as the clock ran down and managed to nullify the pace of Portilho.
Sam Coffey 7/10
Grew as the game went on. The USA opted for a more defensive set-up which seemed to slightly rattle Coffey in the opening half as she was pushed into more of a double-pivot. The most composed USA midfielder in no real competition.
Korbin Albert 5/10
It always seemed to be an interesting decision for Emma Hayes as she opted to start Korbin Albert over Rose Lavelle for the gold medal meeting. The decision did not seem to pay off, as the USA looked shaky and confused in the midfield. Weak when defending in the middle and allowed Brazil to play triangle football around her pivot space.
Lindsey Horan 4/10
Hasn’t been an impressive tournament for Horan since a stellar showing on match day one against Zambia. Looked sluggish and lacked the clinical edge when playing forward. Hayes would have been considering herself lucky that her side were able to get the job done with a tiresome midfield selection.
Sophia Smith 5/10
Relatively anonymous in the opening half despite her stellar recent form. Picked up as the game went on but nothing seemed to fall for Smith on her 24th birthday. Subbed off in the 83rd minute.

Provided some pace up front as the USA struggled to look dangerous in the early stages. Gathered the composure to slot home a Thierry Henry-esque finish in the French capital in her 100th cap for the United States. Always looked the most likely to provide the finishing touch as she capped off an afternoon of hard work with a clinical finish.
Trinity Rodman 6/10
A quiet afternoon for Rodman. Both herself and Smith didn’t make as big as an impact as usual, but it seemed the service didn’t arrive in it’s usual standard from the US midfield. A few moments where she was a bit rushed in possession, opting to try a miraculous back-heel rather than trust her time on the ball.
Emily Sonnett 7/10
Subbed on in the 74th minute and fulfilled her job description. Remained strong alongside Girma to ice out the Brazilian attack. Put in a vital clearance in the dying minutes to block a promising cross from Marta.
Lynn Williams N/A
Subbed on in the 83rd minute. Didn’t spend enough time on the pitch in order to compose a fair rating.
Casey Krueger N/A
Subbed on in 90+5. Didn’t spend enough time on the pitch in order to compose a fair rating.
