As per Kathryn Batte of the Daily Mail, reports have emerged that Lauren Smith has resigned from her head coach role at Bristol City.
Embed from Getty ImagesSmith has been with the Robins since 2021, and has since lead the club in the English top-flight before preparing for the fall back into the Barclays Women’s Championship this season coming. Though as the clock ticks down with the new campaign now just a fortnight away, Bristol City are left without their head coach as Mail Sport confirmed she has resigned from her position.
Batte confirmed that “[Smith] is understood to have informed her players of the decision on Monday afternoon.”
Smith installed a firm philosophy into the playing style at Bristol City, and it seemed that herself and the club were all set to head in a positive direction before the news broke on Monday.
This follows the news that Robins captain, Megan Connolly, will also be departing the club and is set to join Lazio in the Serie A. Bristol City await a now-anxious start to their 2024/25 campaign without Smith.
