Former interim head coach Renée Slegers has been named as the permanent Arsenal manager through to the end of the 2025/26 season, the club confirms.

After an extraneous process conducted by the club, Arsenal have finally arrived at an answer for their manager dilemma. Interim head coach Slegers took charge of the Gunners ship following the resignation of former manager Jonas Eidevall.

Since then, Arsenal have looked near-invincible. Collecting 10 wins and a draw in 11 consecutive fixtures, Slegers is yet to taste defeat in north-London. Despite the speculation that there were many candidates being interviewed for the position, fans were certain that only one name was the correct fit.

England captain and Gunners defender Leah Williamson said she is “so happy coming into work” since Slegers took charge, with Beth Mead saying the team are “enjoying football again”.

Director of Women’s Football, Clare Wheatley says: “We’re delighted to appoint Renée as our permanent head coach. Renée has excelled during her time as interim head coach, bringing our team, club and supporters together and leading us to a hugely impressive run of results and performances.”

Arsenal will now face the test of a condensed calendar as the side prepare for matches in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup, Subway Women’s League Cup, UEFA Women’s Champions League, and WSL.
