Wales captain Angharad James believes that the pressure is all on England as the two sides meet for the final group stage match of Euro 2025.
The odds may be stacked against them in Wales’ fairytale major tournament, but they still have the opportunity to dislodge England in the final group stage fixture. Captain Angharad James says the campaign is far from over, and she is ready to inspire the next generation of Welsh footballers.
“We spoke before we came to this tournament, and we said that we have already won, regardless of what happens at this tournament, Wales has already won, and we’ve already taken huge strides forward,” James said.
“With the little wins at this tournament, like just scoring a first goal, and now hopefully a result tomorrow night will be a next win. It’s big for our nation, being here showing all the little girls and boys at home that we can be on the biggest stage, we can compete at the biggest stage, and we deserve to be here as a nation.

“It’s about taking those small wins and making sure that we keep pushing and keep striving to be better, but also to acknowledge how far we’ve come over the last few years.”
“There’s no hiding behind the history of Wales vs England in sport, it’s a rival match,” James expressed. “It’s one that everyone wants to play in.
“As a group we’ve come on so much since the first game, and the second game was such a big improvement from us, and we’re looking to step it up again in this game.
“But, the pressure is all on England. They have to come out, they have to perform. They’re expected to win this game within our group, but we believe that we can upset a very top team. But, we’re preparing as normal, and we’re ready to fight tomorrow.”
