Sarina Wiegman has provided an update on Leah Williamson after the captain was substituted from the side’s Euro 2025 quarter-final.
England completed the comeback in a Euro 2025 quarter-final thriller, defeating Sweden in an epic penalty shootout in Zurich.
However, it’s not all smiles in the Lionesses camp after captain Leah Williamson went down with an ankle injury just before the end of regular time.
Head coach Sarina Wiegman says she isn’t sure of the specifics of Williamson’s injury just yet.
“I don’t know what it is right now. She couldn’t stay on the pitch so we had to take her off,” Wiegman said. “People are really tired.”
