West Ham United have appointed former Bristol City head coach Steve Kirby as the new assistant coach of the women’s first team.

Kirby, who spent two years in charge of WSL2 side Bristol City, is the latest addition to Rehanne Skinner’s coaching staff.

West Ham finished the 2024/25 campaign in ninth place, docking 23 points after a strong finish to the campaign.

“I’m delighted to be joining West Ham United,” Kirby told the club. “When the opportunity came along to work with Rehanne, I felt like it was an easy decision to make.

“The Club has cemented its place in the WSL over the last few years and the upward trajectory that Rehanne is taking the team on is clear for everyone to see.

“I’ve always admired the style in which Rehanne’s teams play and, as a competitor, I embraced the challenge of being in the opposite dug out to her.

“I’m now committed to using my knowledge and experience to help the players improve and move forwards in this new chapter together.”

Head coach Rehanne Skinner says: “I’m delighted to welcome Steve to the Club. Steve has a wealth of experience and, having worked in both the WSL and WSL 2 over the last few years, his knowledge of the women’s game will be a real asset to the group.
