Man City have completed the signing of United midfielder Grace Clinton in a dramatic WSL swap deal on deadline day.
Clinton has joined City from Women’s Super League (WSL) rivals Manchester United. The 22-year-old midfielder is said to have been acquired by the club in exchange for a transfer fee and midfielder Jess Park.
The midfielder has spent three years at United following her graduation from the Everton academy in 2022. Two of which she spent on loan with Bristol City and Tottenham Hotspur. She made 28 appearances for United, scoring nine goals.
“City, for me, has always played an amazing style of football. Keeping the ball, it looks lovely, and there are amazing players,” Clinton told the club.
“Hempo [Lauren Hemp], Bunny [Shaw], Miedema, Hasegawa are just a few of them and I want to get better and grow and learn things in my career. I think there are amazing people here to learn things from. To play this style of football will be really enjoyable.”
Manchester City Women Director of Football, Therese Sjogran said: “We’re really pleased to have been able to bring Grace to Manchester City – she’s a player we have admired for a while now.
“She is still a young player but already has a lot of experience under her belt. We believe she will fit in seamlessly with our style of play and add to the talented squad we already have.
“We’re very much looking forward to working with Grace over the coming seasons and seeing her make her mark in a Manchester City shirt.”
