UEFA have confirmed that Women’s Euro 2025 generated a CHF 205m (€220m) boost into the Switzerland economy.

The month-long tournament that saw England run out eventual winners, broke records across the board. UEFA have confirmed that the tournament generated CHF 205m (€220m) into the Swiss economy, whilst also creating a 9% increase in hotel bookings in comparison to the previous July.

A 21-brand sponsorship lineup also drove a 150% increase in sponsorship revenue compared to Women’s Euro 2022.

With aim to maintain the long-term increase of national women’s football participation, €11 million has been secured towards Switzerland’s ‘Here to Stay’ campaign, aimed at raising the standards and driving off-field development. The Swiss Women’s Super League reaped the rewards of Switzerland’s historic quarter-final run, facing a 49% attendance increase in comparison to the first game of the 2024/25 season.

Women’s Euro 2025 broke through the glass ceilings

Women’s Euro 2025 played host to a game average crowd of 20,000 spectators, more than any other Euros tournament to date. 29 of the 31 games were sold out, with 657,291 tickets sold across the tournament. An estimated 1.2 million fans watched the action live from the fanzones, and 412 million tuned in to the live broadcasts.

A record 106 goals were scored across the tournament as fans were treated to a world-class spectacle of attacking football. Five of the seven knockout games went to extra time, showcasing the rising competitiveness amongst Europe’s best.

Women’s Euro 2025 was brought to life by the excellent work of 2,500 volunteers who represented 73 different countries.
