Man United head coach Marc Skinner says his side will have to put their hiking boots on in order to overcome a 1-0 deficit against SK Brann.
United prepare to return home to Leigh Sports Village for the second leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League qualification battle against Norwegian side SK Brann. Manchester United will have to overcome a 1-0 aggregate deficit in order to progress to the league phase.
“We just have to put the hiking boots on,” head coach Marc Skinner said on the challenge ahead. “Then we need to climb the mountain. The reality is, we’re playing a team that had used their home advantage really well. They were excellent on the night and deserved their win, but also got a bit fortunate, because I think we created enough chances to win the game.”

The side will be eager to return home to Leigh Sports Village – a place they have made a real fortress over recent campaigns. Skinner touched on the home advantage without brushing aside the challenge that lies ahead for United.
“We are incredibly good at Leigh Sports Village,” Skinner said. “It’s our fortress, it’s our home, and we have to make sure that Brann feel that tomorrow. There is nothing about under estimating their quality. They have incredible quality. So it’ll be a tough time, but, but the reality, we know what we’ve got to do. We’ve got to win the game, so we’re going to go and give absolutely everything in order to do so, as I say, against a very good team that have deserved where they’re currently at.
“There’s an absolute respect for Brann,” Skinner said. “A respect for how they play, what they did against us last time. But also we’re at home, and we’re a dominant team at home, so we must exact that dominance and take the chances. If we do that, then Brann will be in for a long night.
“If we don’t, then we’ll be in for a long night. So we have to turn up with clarity and be calculated and calm tomorrow. If we can do that with the right energy, then we can give any team, let alone Brann, a really tough time.”
Man United will face SK Brann for a spot in the Champions League league phase this Thursday September 18 at 19:00.
