Australian star Sam Kerr makes her return to the Matildas squad for the first time since November 2023 to face England and Wales.

Matildas head coach Joe Montemurro has named Sam Kerr in his squad for upcoming international friendlies against Wales and England in the United Kingdom.

The striker was sidelined for 20 months after rupturing her ACL on a training camp with Chelsea in January 2024. Kerr made her return to football in Chelsea’s 3-1 victory away to Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League (WSL) in mid September. It took the 32-year-old under 20 minutes to get on the scoresheet for the Blues on her return.

Kerr makes her return ahead of Australia’s home Asian Cup campaign in March 2026.

The Matildas will face Wales in Cardiff on Sunday October 26 at 12:00am AEDT, before travelling to Derby to face European Champions England on Wednesday October 29 at 6:00am AEDT.
