Brighton leapfrog over Leicester to dampen the Foxes chances of a top 6 finish in the WSL in a thrilling display from both sides at King Power Stadium with Elizabeth Terland stealing the win for Brighton in the final 85th minute.

Proceedings
It was notable team selection from Jennifer Foster for Leicester City today, as the interim boss made four changes from last week’s defeat to Tottenham. Asmita Ale and Emilia Pelgander receive their first starting appearances for the Foxes, while Deanne Rose and Josie Green also return to the starting eleven.
As for Brighton & Hove Albion, interim Head Coach Mikey Harris also shuffled up the pack with his Seagulls side to face the Foxes. Harris made three changes from the team beaten by Manchester City, as Maria Thorisdottir falls out of the side with an ankle injury and Emma Kullberg drops to the bench. In came Poppy Pattinson, who returns from suspension, as well as the addition of Vea Sarri into the starting line up.

Proceedings were well underway at King Power Stadium, as both sides would look to add three points to their Barclays Women’s Super League tally.
The opening half provided minimal action, as neither side was able to create effective chances in the final third.
After a goalless first half where Leicester City dominated the fixture’s tempo, it was the host’s top goal scorer in Jutta Rantala who put Leicester ahead in the second half- as her powerful strike at close range was buried in the top left-hand corner.

The visitors continued to take advantage of Leicester’s high press, as the Seagulls continued to appear both adventurous and dangerous on the counter-attack. A breakaway run from Katie Robinson then added Brighton’s second, after Foxes keeper Lize Kop made a risky move to meet Robinson on the 18-yard box, as the English forward played it round to slot it into an open goal.
The flurry of goals sent a much needed energy boost through the game, as Leicester City charged ahead with a high press to put the pressure on Brighton. In a frantic finale, the influential midfielder Juka Momiki set up an assist for Lena Petermann, who equalised with seven minutes on the clock.
Celebrations were kept to a minimal as the Foxes quickly carried the ball to the halfway line- determined to secure the three points. The scoreline was equal for all of a minute when Brighton’s top goal scorer in Elisabeth Terland created a third and final goal of the game.

The victory on the road sees the Seagulls overtake the Foxes on the Barclays Women’s Super League table, as Mikey Harris’s Brighton outfit now leapfrog Leicester City to occupy eighth position on the ladder’s rungs.
