London City Lionesses have announced the signing of Saki Kumagai from AS Roma for an undisclosed fee.

The versatile midfielder captains her country on the international stage, and brings a wealth of experience to the English capital including over 150 caps for Japan, five Champions League triumphs and a FIFA Women’s World Cup winners medal.

Kumagai told London City, “I’m happy to be a part of this team and I can’t wait to get started at the stadium.”

Director of Football Ronald Thomson added, “We are pleased to have such an exciting and talented player in the building, she will be a huge asset to our squad.”

Jocelyn Prêcheur’s side will be back in Barclays Women’s Championship action this Sunday as they travel to Portsmouth.
